DONALD STERLING'S SECRETLY RECORDED REMARKS? OH MY...!!

4/28/2014

Not sure if I'm late to this party, but I just heard the secretly recorded tape of Donald Sterling spewing some pretty racists shit, last night.

For those of you, like me... who've not yet heard the comments, here's a link:

http://deadspin.com/exclusive-the-extended-donald-sterling-tape-1568291249

I had a few hours to digest what I heard, and here's my view on the matter.

Was what Donald Sterling said in bad taste? YES. At the very least he's a hypocrite (since his girlfriend is half black... in the pic next to Sterling), at worst he's a racist, but he IS covered under the first amendment. Free speech means occasionally hearing people's opinions no matter how moronic you may think it is, or how uncomfortable it might make you feel. Besides... I'm not sure why anyone would feel Sterling's view is that different from many folks who live a "privileged" life. Many of your 1%-ers have similar views, and it's not limited to one particular color or race.

That said... Getting upset and following dinks like Sharpton and/or Jackson into rioting is even more stupid. It accomplishes nothing. "Demanding" Sterling's resignation also isn't the way to go. It only serves to show people's lack of respect for the US constitution and everything it stands for. There's NOTHING more important to our liberties, than FREE SPEECH! Once that's gone, what ever is left, no longer matters.

If the Clippers players are really offended by his comments, I can't tell. I mean... that lame boycott of wearing the unies inside out, so the Clippers logo doesn't show tells me nothing and accomplishes even less.
If they truly want to send a message, I suggest they forfeit their contracts and the millions of dollars Sterling is paying them and walk out on the team. Not after the playoffs is over, or if/when they get bounced from the playoffs, but RIGHT NOW! The amount of money Donald Sterling, the Clippers, Staple Center, City of Los Angeles, NBA and who knows now many other groups and people will lose, would send a serious message. Any player worth even half the value of his contract will be snatched up by another team. But... this won't happen. After all... the millionaire athletes may whine a bit, but they won't bite the hand that feeds them, which in this case happens to be Sterling.

If you are personally offended, and want to show your outrage in a manner that can actually have an impact, my suggestion is simple. Don't like Donald Sterling? Don't buy Clippers tickets. Don't go to a Clippers game. Don't go to the staples center for any event, including tonight's Kings/Sharks hockey game. If you live in another town that has an NBA team, don't buy a ticket to any game that involves the Clippers. If the NBA has a similar revenue sharing system to the NFL's, stop supporting the NBA. There are MANY other ways to show your outrage toward what he said, than "rioting" or attacking the 1st amendment to our dear constitution, which does nothing other than to make every one who shares Sterling's views say... "See? Donald is right!"

HOW DOES HAVING TWO AMERICAS, AFFECT YOU?

This particular blog was inspired by a black friend of mine, and is more serious than my usual "goofy" ones. He posed a good question on Facebook in regards to the George Zimmerman trial, his acquittal and the subsequent media circus and riots which ensued. In a nutshell, my friend's question was this.

"What do you tell your children about what just happened, and what type of lesson could, perhaps even should, they learn from it." Below is (was) my response.

I would be completely honest with my child(ren). I would explain to them all about how America was stolen back by the Britt bankers in 1871, how they created a phony corporate version of the u.s. and how they hate America, but love this idea of melting pot because it's very easy to turn the less educated citizens against one another.

I would also teach him(them) about how the CIA was specially created NOT to serve and protect the American people but rather the world's elite and banking interest.

I would teach him(them) examples of how this so called US government has treated her less desirable citizens, like the native Americans and blacks by herding them into camps and/or ghettos, and giving them thing like syphilis, typhoid, alcohol, drugs, guns, cocaine, weed, LSD and every other destructive thing they could think of.

This same government who's supposedly "for the people" is also the one who made sure to give the blacks in the ghettos as much incentive as possible to stay there. Just enough "free stuff" so that they have something to lose. All the while they supply and encourage the black on black violence.

I would teach him(them) that as long as this same government controls the information (via the school system), things will never change. After all... I don't think there's a person still alive who believes that Lee Harvey Oswald was the one who killed JFK, an that James Earl Ray was the one who killed MLK jr. Yet... to this day they still teach these lies to our kids.

I would point out that our school system isn't designed to create thinkers, but rather "good test takers".

I would go on and show them that the national media is not here to "inform them", but rather to get them emotional and to sensationalize everything to the point where the viewers are literally being told how they should feel and react to any ridiculous news story they create. That's right... they no longer report the news, but instead create it.

I would teach and show them these things, so that they can see through the BS, and understand why the media shows what it does, but never mentions important things like "project 60".

While we the people are being fed false history and false dreams, the corporation does what ever it wants. After all... you, me and every other human being with a SS number don''t REALLY exist. We are merely a number with out any real rights. Slavery is alive and well in America, and even though THIS master only resides in about a 10 square mile area, THIS master's reach is far and wide.

I think though the most important thing I would teach him(them) is to think for themselves. Always question... "Why is the media showing me the same image over and over?" Yup son... think for yourself and never EVER stop asking "WHY?".

                                                                                   - Attila
Yes ... I would teach him (them) all of these things, because every one of them played a role in this tragedy, and the madness that ensued.

The links I provided are meant to be a starting point. Look at them, but don't simply take my word on anything. Read other articles, get different points of view, and make your own determination as to what you believe is the truth or lie. We live in the age of information, and there's so much of it out there, that it can be very over whelming. Never EVER just take one person's opinion, and run with it as fact! And keep in mind that corporations, governments and even people in many cases put out misinformation, to confuse matters even more.

THE DANGERES OF MOVEON.ORG'S ATTEMPT TO CENSOR RUSH LIMBAUGH...

I was sent an email by MoveOn.org, asking me to sign a petition calling on Clear Channel to take Rush Limbaugh off the air. Why? Well, because the loud-mouth radio voice of the Republican Party called a woman a whore. In case you’ve been living under a rock, there’s been an insane debate going on, involving fat middle aged white guys who get to make policy decisions, on government rules requiring employers to offer insurance coverage for contraception. Well… when sex is involved, the shit usually hits the fan in this up-tight country we proudly call the U.S. of A!

On February 23rd, Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, testified before an unofficial hearing convened by Democrats. She criticized the health insurance policies of Georgetown, a Jesuit university, saying the school's lack of contraception coverage has a harmful impact on female students. "I'm an American woman who uses contraceptives," she declared.

Well… as in his usual over the top way to make a point, on February 29th, Rush Limbaugh slammed Fluke on his show, claiming that she was asking the government to subsidize her sex life. "What does that make her?" he asked. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."

(The dates and quotes were taken from theweek.com)

This was typical Limbaugh rhetoric, on which he’d created an entire career! The man has made a living making mounds out of mole hills. He has the ability to take any situation, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant, and use it to create a divide between his supporters and his opposition, which usually is anyone with a moderate to liberal point of view.

Rush Limbaugh’s hypocrisy with the entire “do as I say, not as I do” garbage wore thin on me years ago. There was a time, in the early and mid 90’s when I listened to his show with regularity. In fact, I even read one of his books. That was a time before Rush, in my opinion, has gone completely off the deep end. His drug addiction and multiple failed marriages are well documented. We know, that he’s incredibly far from a perfect human being, no matter how much Rush seems to ignore the facts in his own life, but that doesn’t stop him from casting big-ass rocks from his glass house, which stands on rotted wood. In the past he’s often ranted against groups like Planned Parenthood, and personally called people junkies and drug addicts, etc…

Rush Limbaugh has a ton of character flaws, but for all of that, there’s no denying that he has a very successful radio show, because he’s got a gift for stirring up the hornet’s nest. From my point of view, Rush has gotten so “over-the-top”, that he’s just a mere shadow of the man whose radio show I used to listen to in the 90’s. His mouth has gotten louder, but unfortunately the words coming out are ramblings of an insane narcissist.

When I first heard about Rush’s comments regarding Fluke’s testimony, I simply shook my head. I understand what Limbaugh was trying to get at with his usual over the top examples, but there is a classier way to go about it. I couldn’t disagree more with what he said about Ms. Fluke and the way he went about doing it, but I get it. He’s a jack-ass, who found a way to make himself a center piece of the story, which isn’t about him! Now, instead of focusing on the issue, everyone’s talking about Rush Limbaugh and his insensitive comments.

Having said all of that, I could NOT get myself to sign MoveOn.org’s petition, to have Rush Limbaugh removed from the air. THAT IS CENSORSHIP! If I would have signed that petition, I would have gone against every fiber of my core beliefs.

As an artist, “Freedom of Speech” to me is everything! It is as sacred as our rights get! We MUST do everything we can to protect everyone’s right to free speech in America, not just those with whom we agree.

I lived the first 10 years of my life in Romania, under the brutal dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu. It was a country where freedom of speech applied to only one man, Ceausescu himself. I remember when my parents had guests over, they had to turn on the record player, sit close to it and whisper ideas to one another, as to not be over heard by our next door neighbors, who were spies for the government.

When we remove anyone because we don't like what he/she said, we are slicing into our own rights and freedoms, one razor cut at a time.

Far be it from me to tell you what you should or should NOT do, but I would encourage all of you to NOT sign the petition, but instead don't listen to Rush's show. If he has no listener-ship, Clear Channel will remove him.

Remember... FREE SPEECH is here to protect the things we don't like or want to hear... not the things said which make us feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Censorship is a very slippery slope. Today… Limbaugh, at some point tomorrow… YOU!

WORSE ROLE MODELS... CELEBRITIES OR POLITICIANS?

10/28/2013

I’ve been noticing a trend on Facebook, which seems to mirror real life. When an athlete or entertainer makes a mistake, no matter how great or small that error, detractors jump all over that person, eagerly pointing out the said athlete or entertainer’s flaws. I get that this sort of criticism comes along with wealth and fame, but to me, it only wreaks of envy.

Why would anyone in their right mind expect “perfect behavior” (what ever that means to the individual) from athletes and/or entertainers? I can understand kids thinking that their favorite rock-star, athlete or actor is perfect, but adults? You’ve got to know better. I’ve learned one thing in my 43 years of existence… I’m never surprised when a person… any person… makes a mistake. Hell, I make at least a dozen mistakes every day, before noon! So, do I expect perfection from any human? No, I do not. I do, however, expect better behavior from people in certain lines of work.

All living things are incredibly flawed. It comes with the territory of being a carbon based life form. If no gazelle ever made a mistake, lions would either go hungry or feed on another animal. Mistakes are what life is all about. They are also a great measuring stick of someone’s intelligence. The more a person repeats the same mistake; well… we can deduce that person to be “dumber than the average bear”.
There are also different levels of mistakes. If a person keeps picking the wrong lottery numbers, we consider that to be “unlucky”, but in reality… he’s making a mistake. His intention is NOT to pick the wrong numbers, but he does it anyway. The good news is that by this action, our “unlucky” error maker is only hurting himself.

On the other hand, there are more serious mistakes, for example… drunk driving. We know that it’s wrong to do, but many of us either do it or have done it, anyway. Some of us (for example… me) have done it plenty of times in our younger years, but were “lucky” enough to have never caused an accident. Others aren’t so “lucky”. There are people in this world, who’ve literally driven drunk one time, and got into an accident. The truly unfortunate ones even went a step further and accidentally killed someone, due to their error in judgment.

In many cases, we’re defined by our mistakes. I’m sure every reader can think back into his or her past, and think of at least one mistake each and every one of his/her friends made. We all seem to have the ability to “run other people’s lives perfectly”, but when it comes to our own, the decisions we make always seem to get a bit cloudy. Often we get caught up playing the “what if” or “could have, should have, would have… but didn’t” game.

I stopped caring about what athletes and entertainers do when they’re off the field, stage or movie set, a long time ago. When it comes to athletes, I care about how many touchdowns they throw or run for, or how many goals they score. To me, THAT is an athlete’s value… how well that person entertains me when I’m watching him or his team. If he happens to be a “boy scout” off the field, well… that’s a bonus! Why do I think this way?

Look at it like this. I’m coming up on my mid-40’s and have been fortunate to have lived a pretty full life. It was a life filled with mistakes, but it’s OK because I’ve learned from them. I remember what it’s like to be in my 20’s and to be “on top of the world”. When sexy women are throwing themselves at you, and all the drugs you could ever want is there for your taking, free of charge… well… it CAN very easily give you a “god complex”. The younger and more inexperienced a person is, the easier it is to get caught up in press clippings. Throw into the mix the amount of “yes-men” surrounding that person, who’s only concerns are to make the young star happy so they keep their job, it’s a recipe for disaster.

Athletes often tend to make bad life choices because they never have to grow up. They’ve been fortunate and talented enough to get paid a lot of money, for playing a kid’s game. Entertainers are no different. At the same time, most of them DON’T pretend to be perfect human beings. In fact, quite often some of them even love to play the “bad guy”, to garner more media attention. Whose fault is it that they behave this way? Partially their parents, but many of them seem to come from broken homes. Partially the media is to blame, because when an athlete either makes a mistake or does something stupidly over the top for attention, the media grants their wish and covers it to death, which leads me to society.

These multi-millionaire athletes and entertainers act the way they do because society allows them to get away with it. Sure, every now and then, when a celebrity makes a horrendous mistake, we throw the book at him as to say “No… no!” But, for the most part, it ends up landing the said celebrity a pretty sweet financial deal, whether through a company sponsor, or it puts that person back into the spotlight, and lands him/her a well-paying movie deal. What exactly is the athlete/entertainer’s incentive to correct his/her behavior, when it “pays to be an asshole?”

Like I said earlier… I don’t expect my athletes and entertainers to “do the right thing” when out of the lime-light. I do, however, expect much better behavior from politicians, but rarely get it. These people run for office under the premise that they ARE “a better person” than their opponent. Look at a guy like Rick Santorum. This guy thinks he’s so perfect, he’d make Jesus feel uncomfortable. Is he REALLY as perfect as he paints himself to be? Of course not! In fact, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if, at some point in the future, he gets busted having gay sex in a Minneapolis airport bathroom. Seriously… I’ve never seen anyone more homophobic than this guy!

All of that aside, how many of you hold your elected officials responsible for the lies they tell during the elections? How come you don’t hold these people accountable? Politicians can lie, cheat, steal… simply do pretty much what ever they want once they get into office, because society doesn’t pay attention. People are too busy reveling in the downfall of the latest celebrity or off-the-field antics of some dumb jock.

The next time you get all “up in arms” over some idiot athlete, who got into a fight in some after hours club, simply ask yourself, “Why is this news worthy?” This guy’s behavior hasn’t changed since the time he was a kid, the only thing that’s changed is the size of his bank account. With that action, he is only hurting himself and the people around him.

However… the politician, who gets elected into office, can hurt his entire community, city, state or even country and no one is the wiser for it. He dresses sharp, is clean cut, flashes a smile and repeats the same lines of bullshit his predecessors have been reciting for centuries. Yes… the politicians can get away with selling America and her rights to the highest bidder, so long as they don’t get caught on the receiving end of a blowjob while in the oval office. As we all know, sex is the most heinous of crimes, and must be dealt with severely.

Do I care about the actions or opinions of athletes and/or celebrities? No. Do I care about the actions or opinions of elected officials? Yes! You should too, or before you know it, you won’t even have the right to cheer for the idiot athlete of your choice.
